Brighter Tommorrow (The Sandwich Song)

I don't know what to tell my children
When they ask me why is the world so sad
Planes crash into buildings and thousands die
What will I answer when they ask why

I'm thinking we all need to learn
That the answers lie close to home
The way we treat each other
Makes us who we are

Why is that man sleeping outside
Doesn't he know it's raining
He looks so sad I think he's cold
Mommy where's his mommy?

Call me a bleeding heart but
I'll always have an extra cigarette to give
This simple act of kindness
May just make tomorrow brighter

Why is that man sleeping outside
Doesn't he know it's raining
He looks so sad I think he's cold
Mommy where's his mommy?

That's when I'll answer with tears in my eyes
Maybe we should buy him a sandwich
And I'll teach my children love and compassion
And hope for a brighter tomorrow

The future's in our hands
Never forget this
And maybe love will make the difference
Take of your blinders and talk to the homeless
And never lose sight that
It could be you
